Over the past twenty years, breast cancer death rates have dropped dramatically. Thanks to better treatments and earlier detection — especially through regular self-exams — many more people are surviving.

Still, breast cancer remains the deadliest cancer for women.

In 2022, an estimated 2.3 million people worldwide were diagnosed, and 670,000 lost their lives.

In the Netherlands, the Integraal Kankercentrum reported 18,100 new breast cancer diagnoses in 2024.

A nutritious, varied and low-fat diet, as well as regular exercise and avoiding smoking have been proven to help reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. Additionally, doctors and researchers stress that early detection can make all the difference for successful treatment and recovery.

We believe that everyone deserves equal access to menstrual and reproductive healthcare. When it comes to breast cancer, part of that care is literally in our own hands.

That’s why we’ve created an easy-to-follow information sheet – based on guidance from the National Breast Cancer Foundation – showing how to do your monthly self-exam.

Please share this information* with your friends, family, and community. It could make all the difference.
