Solidarity and common ground
We’ve focused on period poverty in the Netherlands, and more specifically Amsterdam, for the past six years. In this time, we’ve also addressed pressing matters beyond menstrual health. These Netherlands-focused resources are in both Dutch and English, because some of the people in the communities we serve are still learning Dutch or haven’t gotten started yet. Others may speak Dutch, but are too busy working or unable to stay current with key issues, and practical ways to access needed support. With no set editorial calendar around working around our core goal of tackling period poverty, we’ll share posts in both Dutch and English.
Countering the rise of the right
The political moment we’re in is not very subtle. Across the Netherlands and beyond, the extreme right is gaining institutional ground and attention online. Correspondingly, the effects land hardest on those already carrying the most: women navigating reproductive misinformation campaigns, online hate and femicide; young people struggling with a deepening housing crisis; migrants and refugees denied basic protections; queer people, especially our trans siblings, facing the threat of rollbacks of hard-won rights; people of color absorbing the impacts of racialized policies and profiling. And we all suffer when politicians cede ground to companies that destroy the only home we all have.
It can all feel overwhelming. These matters are connected; that’s why our feminism has to be, as well.
Sharing accessible, up to date resources is a response to what we see happening in our neighborhoods, city and country. There’s no funding agreement with any organization or individual, and certainly no algorithm working in our favor. What we have is each other, and a shared conviction that information – clearly communicated and freely shared – is part of how communities stay strong when the going gets tougher.

These posts will be written by our volunteers and guest writers, who will explain what’s happening, why it matters, and what can be done. We’ll be honest about what we don’t know, and welcome your feedback. Each time we release a post, we will add that link here, along with other relevant resources for easy reference.
